Brain Fever in Ratnapura – Doctors Warns

Doctors in the Ratnapura district have warns  spread of brain fever in the district . Up to now eleven positive cases have been identified. They are  from Balangoda, Kagawatta, Kuruvitta, Elapatha areas.  They are being treated  said Ratnapura DMO Sampath Ranaweera.

Suspected patient’s blood  sample  is taken and sent to the blood bank  to confirm positive cases.  Once it proved  positive special test being carried out on them.

As this brain fever is spreaded  by pigs , those who are residing near pig farms are warned  to  be careful.   Ten years before brain fever affected people in these  areas which took  several lives.
