UNP Back Bencher’s Trap to Catch SLFP Ministers

UNP back benchers have requested the President Maithreepala Sirisena to grant them an appointment to meet and discuss with him about appointing separate commission for each fraud done during Mahinda’s era. In response, very soon a meeting will be held between the President and the UNP back benchers, sources said.

UNP back benchers reported to have prepared a document containing the fraud and financial irregularities done by the SLFP Ministers then, but they are now in the government. The President has appointed a separate commission to inquire into the Central Bank bond scam, which disclosed several top level secrets to the public and compelled Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake to resign from his ministerial portfolio. Similarly UNP back benchers want to appoint separate commission for each fraud.

Meanwhile, the SLFP MPs have recently complained to the President that the UNP back benchers have severely criticised the SLFP. President is expected to raise this issue during the meeting with them.
