PM to address Int’l Symposium at University of Bologna
(FASTNEWS | COLOMBO) – Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa will be addressing an International Symposium at the University of Bologna, Italy, during this weekend, said Foreign Minister Prof. G.L. Peiris.
Accordingly, the Prime Minister will be delivering the Keynote Address at the opening session. Minister Peiris added that this opportunity will be one of the best avenues to showcase our country’s ancient history and cultural heritage to the world as many European leaders will be participating in the symposium.
“This will be an appropriate opportunity to refute the myths and tainted ideas propagated about the country and present a realistic view about Sri Lanka to the International community”, he added.
Moreover, he added that the Prime Minister will be having discussions with Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio,
European Parliament Chairman David Sassoli and President of Slovenia Borut Pahor. The Minister noted that at the same time, the 48th session of the Human Rights Council will be in Geneva, and he will be attending it virtually. The Minister further said that a detailed report will be presented to the Geneva Council on the progress achieved in spite of the formidable challenge of COVID-19. “Despite the constraints of COVID-19, the country has been able to move forward in all sectors.
