A report prepared by a number of environmental and civil society organizations on resettlement near Wilpattu, was submitted to President Maithripala Sirisena last evening at the Presidential Secretariat.
Speaking at the event, the President stated that he would never allow anyone to cause damages to the environment and stated a final decision on the resettlement in the area would be taken following further reports receiving from concerned authorities.
Buddhist monks including Venerable Athuraliye Rathana Thera, environmentalists including Lawyer Jagath Gunawardane and several other representatives of civil society and environmental organizations were present at the event.
