President Maithripala Sirisena has appointed a committee to investigate and recommend ways and means of preventing such power failures in future.
The Committee comprising of Ministers and Deputy Ministers include Ministers Ranjith Siyambalapitiya, Susil Premajayanth, Patali Champika Ranawaka ,Sagala Ratnayake , Deputy Ministers Eran Wickramaratne and Ajith P Perera.
The Committee’s first interim report is due to be handed over to the President in one week.
The Committee is required to complete all necessary work for a period of three months.
The power to choose any intellectuals or experts has been handed over to the Committee by the President.
