Death Sentenced to Saman Jayalath by Negombo High Court (Update)

Saman Jayalath, the main suspect in the rape and murder of four-year-old Seya Sadewmi in Kotadeniyawa, has been sentenced to death by the Negombo High Court.

Seya Sadewmi verdict in Negombo High Court Today

The verdict in the  rape and murder of 5 year old Seya Sadewmi will be announced at the Negombo High Court today.

The verdict will be announced by Negombo High Court Judge, Champa Janaki Rajaratna. Five year old Seya Sadewmi was raped and murdered on the 11th of September, 2015.

Charges were levelled against 36 year old Saman Jayalath of Akarangaha. The suspect made a confession in Court after he was indicted over four charges levelled against him.

He was charged on four counts including abduction, sexual abuse, rape and murder.

However, when the case was taken up for hearing on the 25th of January, Saman Jayalath only pleaded guilty on two counts including abduction and rape charges.
