Price Of a 450g Loaf Of Bread Restores to RS.56

During the consumer week celebrations between 14th and 20th March 2016, 450   gram bread was sold at reduced Rs 52.00 rupees.

The All Island Bakery Owners Association says the price of a loaf of bread will now  be sold at normal Rs 56 rupees  from today.

The Consumer Affairs Authority declared a ‘Reward the Consumer Week’ from March 14 to 20 to give consumers the opportunity to obtain discounts, benefits and other special offers on products and services across the island.

The price of wheat flour was increased by Prima, while the Bakery Owners Association said the price of a loaf of bread will not be increased.Minister , Rishad has instructed Consumer Protection Authorities to file action against Prima for  increasing price of flour on their own without obtaining consent from the Consumer Protection authority.

The Association attributed their decision to wheat flour concessions provided by Prima.

However the Bakery Owners Association said the matter will be further  discussed  today.
