Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake made a statement that the Kahawatte- Kotakethana murders were coordinated by a strong political hand.
Mr. Dissanayake further stated that he can responsibly guarantee that the police investigation behind the murders of heavily influenced.
63 year old Liyanaarachchige Premawathi and her 23year old daughter Hewagamage Pushpakumari were found murdered and burnt in their home in Kahawatte.
This case was the first case filed by the Chief Justice in regard to the Kotakethana murders.
The three suspects were released to much public outrage by the High Court Judge saying that evidence was contradictory hence unreliable.
Police media Spokesperson Assistant Superintendent of Police Ruwan Gunasekara made a statement that police investigations were not tampered within any way.
