Muditha Jayakody Spilled the Beans on Basil’s Malwana Palatial House

The FCID interrogated  Architect Muditha Jayakody in whose name a palatial house on a 16-acre coconut plantation at Malwana in Gampaha was  built and registered.  He spilled the beans as follows:
  1. He told the FCID categorically that the palatial house was built with the money given by Basil Rajapakshe.
  2. Basil’s wife Puspa laid the foundation for this house in a ceremony.
  3. Basil’s daughter had done the interior decorations
  4. Jayakody has designed Basil’s houses at Malwana, Browns Hill palace in Matara and the party office  in Gampaha owned by D.A.Rajapakshe Foundation free of charge
  5. In return, Basil gave many government  construction projects direct to him without calling tenders.
  6. On questioning about his architectural experience, he told the FCID that building in which FCID housed now was designed by him. When FCID retorted that the building was 100 years old, he said that he had refurbished  the building
Jayakody is under FCID scrutiny over having used his profession to launder the black money of the Rajapaksas.
