The government agreed to allow the debate on the no-faith motion against Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayakeaon July 4, but the opposition insisted that it should be taken up next week or immediately.
Mahajana Eksath Peramuna (MEP) Leader Dinesh Gunawardana questioned that Mr. Ravi Karunanayake whether he was ready for it or not. However, House Leader Lakshman Kiriella stated July 4 was the day given by the government.
Mr. Gunawardane said the opposition would not allow the government to act in its own whims and fancies.
