Two groups attached to the Ports Authority have clashed opposite the entrance of the Colombo Harbour this morning.
A tense situation has been reported at the entrance of the Colombo Harbour between a group of employees distributing flyers against the group fasting for the 6th consecutive day.
The group is demanding the removal of Minister of Ports and Shipping Arjuna Ranatunga.
Meanwhile, Co-Convenor of the Joint Trade Union Collective Prasanna Kulatarage said discussions over the matter will be held with the Labour Commissioner.
The Co-Convenor requested employees to refrain from engaging in unnecessary disputes at the Ports Authority.
Prasanna Kalutarage added officials have not set a date to hold discussions over the matter. However, he said discussions will be held with the Labour Commissioner over the matter.
