Airport & Aviation Services Acquires Ground Operations at BIA From SriLankan Airlines

At present ground operations at the Katunayake International airport are carried out by SriLankan Airlines.

The Airport and Aviation Services will acquires  ground operations at the BIA on recommendations of the government Sub Committee on Economic Affairs.

The Cabinet of Ministers recently approved a proposal to amalgamate SriLankan Airlines with a private enterprise.

According to the Civil Aviation Service Act of 2010 ground operations of airports should be carried out by an organization with over 51 shares than the government.

The Executive Director of the Airport and Aviation Services Ltd. Johann Jayaratne said the present staff of SriLankan Airlines will be employed to carry out activities when the company takes over operations
