Their demand is against moves to register SAITM students in the Medical Council, repression of medical students and the ETCA agreement with India.
Dentists and Ayurvedic doctors are also joining the token strike organized by the GMOA today , said its secretary Dr. Navin de Soyza.
Members of the dentists association wil also extend their protest for 24 hours, while the state services nurses union and several other unions in the health sector have extended their support, said de Soyza.
However, smooth functioning of children’s LRH, maternity hospitals, kidney and cancer hospitals are ensured.
Failure by authorities to favourably respond to this token strike will make them to resort to an indefinite islanwide strike, the GMOA secretary warned.
