Another Senior Police Officer In Hot Water Over Thajudeen Murder

Former Senior DIG Anura Senanayake and former Narahenpita Crimes OIC Sumith Perera, who are under remand custody over suppression of evidence, were remanded  further  till 20^th July 2016 by the Additional Magistrate.

The CID today informed Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris that another senior police officer, Director of the Colombo Crimes Division SP DRL Ranaweera is under investigations for allegedly supressing evidence regarding the Wasim Thajudeen murder.

Since they are also charged on conspiring to murder of Wasim Thajudeen,  the Magistrate’s Court does not have jurisdiction to grant them bail, it was also observed. Bail applications should be filed to the High Court, the Magistrate also directed.
