The audit Query No: IS/INV/PC/GDE/2015/14 raised by the Auditor General on the Bureau of Foreign Employment dated 16 June 2015 reveals Rs. 925,309 had been spent on balloons. This expenditure was incurred during the time current high way Minister Dilan Perera was the foreign employment minister at that time during Mahinda Rajapaksha’s regime.
The money had been used on a march organized to raise awareness on foreign employment.
These balloons reported to have been bought from Anil Graphic Designs of Kitulhena, Mattegoda, which does not manufacture balloons at all. But , an invoice issued by Anil Graphic Designs states the balloons had been supplied for a May Day decoration instead of so called march organized to raise awareness on foreign employment.
