Hearing Arguments For and Against VAT Legislation Concluded on Supreme Court

A three member bench headed by the Chief Justice heard the arguments. The petitioners said that the legislation has not been approved by the Cabinet before being tabled at the Parliament. Therefore the correct procedure has not been followed, it was argued.
The lawyers   appearing   for and against   VAT legislation argued their points  in the Supreme Court yesterday.  Supreme Court   concluded hearing the arguments on these two Special Determination petitions on the VAT legislation.
The Attorney General argued that the due process has been followed since the legislation originated from the Cabinet in the first place.
The court ordered both parties to file written submissions by Monday.
