The 2016 GCE Advanced Level examination will commence today. The Department of Examinations stated 315,605 candidates will sit for this year’s examination. School candidates 240,991 and private candidates 74,614 will sit for the GCE A/L exam. The 2016 GCE A/L examination will be held at 2,204 examination centres island-wide.
The examination is scheduled to commence at 8.30 am while all candidates have been requested to be at their respective examination centres by 8am.
It is mandatory for all candidates to have in their possession the A/Level Admission card, the National Identity card or a valid passport. The Commissioner General of Examination WMNJ Pushpakumara said 27,000 invigilators will be deployed for the examination.
In the meantime , the Department of Examinations has reiterated that strict action will be taken against students engaging in fraudulent activities during this year’s Advanced Level examination.
Commissioner General WMNJ Pushpakumara said, that all students will be notified to refrain from bringing in any type of electronic items into the examination halls.
He said that any electronic item found inside an examination hall will be confiscated by the Examinations Department. The 2016 GCE A/L examination will conclude on the 27th of August.
The Examinations Department has taken measures to appoint Special Examination Monitoring Teams to investigate complaints pertaining to the A/L examination .
