Non- Academic Staff Workers Decided to Continue Their Strike Action

The University Grants Commission requested all non-academic staff attached to state universities to report to work yesterday.

The University Non-academic Staff workers have decided to continue their strike action until the Finance Ministry implements their promises. All non-academic staff currently on probation or training who fail to report to work will no longer be considered as employees of state universities. said UGC .

The non-academic staff attached to state universities recently launched a protest over several demands including issues concerning salary anomalies.

The Convener of the University Non-academic Trade Union Joint Committee, Edward Malwattage said that the authorities have not provided plausible solutions even though the strike had been going on for 11 days.
