SAITM Will Remain As an Institute – Kiriella

Minister of Highways and Higher Education, Lakshman Kiriella, said that the “SAITM had given  approval by  the former government to commence operations in 2011. It was recognized as a degree awarding institute by the Ministry of Higher Education. The MBBS degree awarded by SAITM has been accepted by the UGC. Therefore, we cannot disregard that. Hence, it has become an entity.

Further, the students at SAITM have undergone more than six years of studies at the institute. Hence, revoking the authority would be a grave injustice to them.”

 He has categorically  stated  that he would not revoke the legal recognition granted to SAITM under any circumstance.
