Closure of Pedestrian Lanes in Thoppuwa Bridge Creates Huge Traffic Jam Along Colombo – Chillaw Road

The Thoppuwa  bridge in Colombo – Chillaw road which  divides Gampaha and Puttalam districts have pedestrian lanes. This  50 year old Thoppuwa Bridge which runs along the Colombo – Chilaw road is over the Ma Oya.

These pedestrian lanes were in a depleted condition. The authorities concerned  have closed down the damaged pedestrian lanes without taking necessary steps to carry out repairs. Hence pedestrians are  forced  to walk on  the bridge causing a huge traffic as it’s a narrow bridge with two lanes, said  police.
