Srilankan Malaysia High Commissioner Attacked : Malaysian High Commissioner For Srilanka Summoned to MFA

The Srilankan High Commissioner in Malayia came under attacked in the Kuala Lumpur air port. Before the attack, attackers said to have ask the High Commissioner  thus ‘’ Where is Mahinda?’’.

The High Commissioner and a secretary were at the airport to see off a Lankan politician who was engaged in an official tour of Malaysia when they were assaulted.

The  Srilankan High Commission in Kuala Lumpur is coordinating with local law enforcement authorities in Malaysia and other relevant local authorities to identify  perpetrators and assist with investigations.

The Malaysian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding  the assault on Sri Lanka’s High Commissioner to Malaysia by a group of persons at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The Ministry said it will provide its fullest cooperation to identify the group behind the attack.

Issuing a statement last night the Ministry said the government condemns the act of violence on one of Sri Lanka’s diplomats in the strongest terms.

The High Commissioner is currently receiving medical attention.
