Medicine New Price Formula Next Week

 Minister of Health Rajitha Senaratne says the long awaited price formula for medicines will be introduced next week.

Speaking to officials attached to the Health Ministry today, Minister Senaratne said the price formula will be introduced next week adding it will be gazetted following discussions with stakeholders.

He  noted, by introducing the formula, the government aims to protect the lives of patients and to provide medicine at lower rates.

The government previously assured that the price of medicine will be reduced during this month.

He said the Ministry has commenced operations and are continuing discussions with the Consumer Affairs Authority as well. Further he said that  the Ministry will ensure that people can purchase medicine at lower rates.
