Appeal Court Issued Notice on Ravi & 13 Others

The Court of Appeal today issued notice for the Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake, Secretary of the Ministry of Finance, the Customs Director General and eleven others to appear before Court on the 12th  October 2016 .

A petition was heard today over the group of fourteen providing tax concessions to a private company during floods experienced in the island earlier this year. The petition was filed by the Sinhale National Front and six other parties.

The petitioners claim that the government incurred a loss of six billion rupees.

The fourteen individuals were issued notice after Appeals Court judges Vijith Malalgoda and Preethi Padman Surasena took into consideration the petition.
