There were media reports that the Srilanka Insurances Corporation will be privatised. A law was enacted in Parliament during the year 2011 that life insurance and other insurances should be separated.
The Government is taking steps to convert state organizations as profitable ventures. In next 3 years Srilanka Insurance Corporation revenue will be increased to more than 3 times the income received today.
There is no move to privatize Srilanka Insurances Corporation, as alleged in the media , said Minister Kabir Hashim .
