Mahinda’s Mystery Over CB Bond Issue Worried Vasu?

Mahinda Rajapakshe’s stand on Central Bank bond issue worried Joint Opposition members.  News revealed that former Central bank Governor Arjun Mahendran’s son Aloysius Mahendran reported to be a close friend of Namal Rajapakshe. Hence, Mahindas do not like to hurt Mahendrans.

While Joint Opposition MPs are worried about Mahinda’s stance, MP Vasudeva Nanayakkara has taken strong exceptions to Rajapaksa’s instruction not to make any public statements over the bond issue, and also his absence in the parliamentary vote on the VAT amendment act yesterday (26).

The JO’s Dinesh Gunawardena was told by Rajapaksa to wait for him until he started a media briefing on the cancellation of the CSN’s license and the COPE reports into the CB bond issue.

Once he arrived at the parliamentary complex, Rajapaksa instructed that the government be allowed to settle the COPE matter by itself, and the JO should refrain from making any references to it.
