IS Political Interference with Police Still Continues Even Under Good Governance?

An incident, said to have been taken place  and  in circulation made one to think  whether Political Interference with Police still continues ?

 While IGP was addressing a meeting , a telephone call  was received by the IGP . In response the  IGP, answered  the caller as “Sir” and assured him that a certain person will not be arrested by the FCID.

There are only a few higher officials than the IGP in the government and the President, the Prime Minister and the Minister of Law and Order are among them.

Despite  President Maithripala Sirisena, on numerous occasions said,  that the age of calling the judicial officials and the police is now over, this incident  indicate that  it still continues.
