Non Participation of NPC Chief Minister C.V.Vigneswaran

Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe has called for a meeting to brief about development (Special Provisions) bill today at Temple Trees with the Chief Ministers of Provincial Councils.

Chief Minister of Northern Province C.V.Vigneswaran said, that he has not received invitation for this meeting. So, he is not participating in it. In the meantime Uva Provincial Council has passed a resolution rejecting development (Special Provisions) bill with the majority of four. In favour of bill 9 members voted and 13 voted against it, while Chief Minister abstained from voting. It is significant to note that SLFP members voted against it.
