President Confirmed No Deforestation & Degradation of Wilpattu

President Maithripala Sirisena has said,  that  no deforestation and  forest degradation  was done at    Wilpattu National Park. If any settlement had been done  adjoining the park,  but beyond the boundary line , it will be looked  into.

President Maithripala Sirisena has  revealed this  to the press  after he met  Maha Sanga of the three Chapters yesterday (1).

Further he said,  in order to protect wildlife , environment  and forest   reserve ,  he has taken steps  to extend  the perimeter  of the  Wilpattu National Park with the help of  Secretaries  of the wild life  environment and  forest  Ministries.  He further said, a project will be introduced  with legal process .  He wanted to deploy tri forces  to monitor  commercial groups involved in  destroying forest reserve. Including Wilpattu  all forest reserves should be monitored  from the sky  by using  modern technology, he advised.
