Champika Demands Rs 1 B Compensation From Wasantha Samarasinghe

Minister of Megapolis and Western Development Patali Champika Ranawaka yesterday (4)  filed a defamation case before the Colombo District Court demanding compensation of 1 billion rupees from the Convenor of the Voice against Corruption movement Wasantha Samarasinghe.

Minister Ranawaka has demanded compensation based on a statement made by Wasantha Samarasinghe to a newspaper on the 15th of July 2016 pertaining to a coal transaction.

Voice against Corruption Convenor Wasantha Samarasinghe had made comments suggesting Minister Ranawaka was involved in a coal transaction in which financial discrepancies amounting to 1.8 billion rupees was reported.
