Delay in Convening Constitutional Assembly in 2017

 Constitutional Assembly was due to convene in Parliament  initially this morning .

However on request made by  several political parties  to provide them more time for discussions, the meeting of the Constitutional Assembly was postponed. Instead  Parliament is  convened this morning to continue  with other agendas.  Leader of the House Minister Lakshman Kiriella said today’s Parliamentary session will be confined  to a few hours.
