Chinese Ambassador Met Mahinda. Is it to Exert Pressure?

Chinese Ambassador along with the Prime Minister and other VIPs participated  in the opening ceremony  of  vocational training institute in Hambantota on Saturday (7).  Mahinda’s  faction alleged to have staged a protest  demonstration against  it . Police was  forced to use water canon and tear gas to disperse the protestors .  Mahinda’s  family members were prominently  seen in videos  during  the protest. Chinese Ambassador has witnessed   all what happened  at Hambantota during inauguration .

 Followed by this, Chinese Ambassador  has made a visit to Mahinda’s official residence on Tuesday (10)  to discuss about the  Chinese project in Hambantota.  He said to have brought to the notice of  Mahinda  that this project was originally initiated  when he was in power and Hambantota industrial zone is part of the project.  Mahinda patiently  listened to him.  However, sources from Mahinda  said, that Mahinda has  categorically  told Chinese ambassador,   that he is against  releasing  15,000acres of the land to  China.

Observers questions   whether China is exerting  pressure on  Mahina ?
