No Rain Till March- Met. Depart

Meteorology Department categorically said, that there won’t be  rain fall until March 2017.

Disaster Management Center has said, that the agricultural sector will be badly affected . Water levels in reservoirs,   rivers and tanks  will get reduce. DMC said, that 40,479 families  from  districts  which includes Jaffna, Mannar, Hambantota,  Badulla ,  Anuradhapura, Monaragala and Gampaha are badly affected.  As a result  144,202  peoples are at the receiving end.

Water Supply  and Drainage board said,  that they have three months  water stock  to provide  pipe water to the public.

In the meantime,  President Maithripala Sirisena is expected to issue a circular requiring the government offices to reduce the usage of air conditioners in the wake of the prevailing dry spell that may cause a power crisis as well, Deputy Minister of Energy Ajith P. Perera told a media briefing.
