Mangala to Relax Open Homosexual Relations?

Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera said to have submitted a cabinet memorandum seeking approval to delete 175 years old ordinance number 1842 in respect of homosexuality. He emphasized that there is nothing wrong in removing it.

According to the existing law, the public is prohibited from practicing homosexuality in public. Once it is removed from ordinance books, people are free to practice homosexuality without any legal obstacle. This Cabinet paper is scheduled to be taken up for discussion today.
