2017 to be the Digital Era in Srilanka -Harin

The 2017 World Economic Forum commenced in Davos, Switzerland yesterday(17). The forum is scheduled to conclude on Saturday, the 21st of January.
A seven member delegation led by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe left the island on Monday to participate in the forum. The delegation includes Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake, Minister of Development Strategies and International Trade Malik Samarawickrama and Minister of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando.
Speaking at a press conference at the 2017 World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Minister of Telecommunication and Digital Infrastructure Harin Fernando said key areas the government focused on were digital connectivity, a National Digital Identification for all citizens, a national payment platform, a single platform for the government to connect, digital security, digital legislation and digital education.
Minister Fernando further  said the present administration mapped out what it wanted to achieve within the next 5 years.
Minister Harin Fernando said all plans of the government will be rolled out in 2017.
