The COPE Chairman Sunil Handunnetti has made a statement that a document connected with the bond scam was sent to COPE, the Speaker and the Finance Ministry by the Auditor General and the Finance Ministry had acknowledged the receipt of the document containing the information
In response , Minister of Finance Ravi Karunanayake said, that no one in his ministry had acknowledged the receipt of any document and charged that the Auditor General had acted unprofessionally by failing to send him information on the bond issues in the past.
Further, he said the Auditor General has no right to publicise confidential information. Chief Opposition Whip Anura Kumara Dissanayake said there was nothing wrong in the Auditor General sending a report on bond issues in the past.
