Traffic Congestion at Town Hall Area in Colombo

 Traffic congestion has been reported in the Town Hall area in Colombo due to a protest rally by university non-academic staff. The Inter University Trade Union Joint Committee (IUTUJC) has also resorted to a token strike from this morning(7). The demonstration is being held in front of the University Grants Commission. The strike is believed to be caused due to the lack of initiative taken by the commission to issue a circular to increase the staff’s monthly allowance.
