Former Pakistan Batsman Nasir Jamshed Provisionally Suspended From all Forms of Cricket
Former Pakistan batsman Nasir Jamshed is the latest cricketer to be provisionally suspended as investigations continue into a potential match-fixing plot at the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Unlike Islamabad United pair Sharjeel Khan and Khalid Latif – provisionally suspended by the Pakistan Cricket Board last week – or three other players since questioned, Jamshed is not taking part in the ongoing 2017 edition of the Twenty20 competition in Dubai.
However, the 27-year-old Jamshed, whose last cap for Pakistan came almost two years ago but who has made 68 international appearances across all three formats, has nevertheless been provisionally banned from all forms of cricket by the PCB.
A brief press release from the governing body on Monday afternoon read: “PCB has provisionally suspended Nasir Jamshed from all forms of cricket for violating its anti-corruption code.”
Sharjeel, who was signed by Leicestershire for this summer’s NatWest Blast, and Latif opened the batting together in Pakistan’s nine-wicket win over England in last September’s one-off Twenty20 at Old Trafford.
This year’s PSL began last Thursday, only for revelations about possible match-fixing to emerge within 24 hours.
