Wilpattu Not Destroyed For Resettlement NPC Passed Resolution

V.Jeyathilake of All Ceylon Makkal Congress  of UPFA brought  a resolution  in the Northern Provincial Council stating, that Wilpattu  National Park  cum Wilpattu forest has not been destroyed for resettlement purposes.  While addressing the  NPC Provincial Council on this resolution, he said neither Wilpattu sanctuary  nor Wilpattu  forest  has been destroyed  for resettlement of people. Some section of the people  in the South  supported by selected medias carry out the propaganda  that Wilpattu National Park cum Wilpattu forest had been destroyed by  a section of the people.   Real fact is  that those citizens who were living there previously returned to their native place after 22 years and found  it covered with forest.  They were given permission to resettle  in their native land by cutting  the forest.  This has been misconstrued   as cutting  Wilpattu forest  leading to  wild propaganda  by  communistic elements  waiting to  create communalism in Srilanka.  Sinhalese, Tamils  or Muslims  have their legitimate  right to claim their traditional native land, which cannot be denied, he concluded.
The  Northern Provincial Council has passed the resolution  unanimously.
