Joint Opposition MP Bandula Gunawardena sent letters of demand to the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Limited (Lake House) and Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake, demanding Rs. 500 million.
He alleged that the state run newspaper company and the Finance Minister had distorted his remarks before the Presidential Commission to Investigate into the Bond Issue.
He has also sought compensation of Rs.200 million and Rs.300 million from the newspaper and the Finance Minister respectively. “I had no intention of providing false evidence before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry, he concluded.
