While addressing in a media news conference organised by the Socialist Alliance at the Dr. N. M. Perera Centre Democratic Left Front leader Vasudeva Nanayakkara demanded the resignation of Foreign Minister Managala Samaraweera citing reasons that the latter was subservient to western powers.
Samaraweera acted in a manner, which was inimical to the national interest.
He said the Foreign Minister should have been removed much earlier. He also criticised Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe for misleading the masses claiming that there would be no foreign judges to investigate alleged war crimes. He said the government promised the UNP to facilitate the participation of foreign judges in the war crimes tribunal to be set up.
However, he praised President Sirisena for the stand he had taken in objecting to foreign judges and inspectors.
He also said that the Tamil National Alliance was in a mighty hurry to see that foreign judges and inspectors in the country.
