Special Parliamentary Session Regards Meethotamulla Garbage Disaster

President Maithripala Sirisena has called for special meeting to be held in Parliament  on 28^th April 2017 .

Parliament will be informed of the special gazette notification issued under the directives of President Maithripala Sirisena,  which makes the disposal of  Meethotamulla garbage an essential service for Local Government bodies. The gazette was issued yesterday with effect from midnight under No.16 of the Public Security Act.

Parliament will convene at 9.30am on 28th of April for the special meeting. The gazette will also allow legal action to be taken against any individual that disrupts the process of disposing garbage.
