Imported US$ 200 Million Doppler Radar Not Installed by Meteorological Department?

The Meteorological Department had imported Doppler radar equipment, which can precisely predict weather patterns. During installation in the year 2014, equipment said to have fallen and damaged. Since then the met. Department officials have not taken any constructive steps to repair and install this Doppler Radar equipment.

End result is that Srilankans faced recent flood/ landslide disaster without any preparedness. More than 300 lives lost and millions worth of property destroyed.

There were allegations of several irregularities in this import, made by public spirited citizens then. However no investigation was ordered then.
