Delayed Treatment Main Cause for Most Dengue Deaths

In a press conference held in the Health Education Institute yesterday to observe international population day , Director General  of the Health Services, Consultant Physician Jeyasundara Bandara said, that most of the dengue  deaths were due to delayed treatment. This is because after the dengue attack, the more you delay taking treatment the more virus spread in the body thus affecting the blood and cause deaths. People who are affected by dengue normally go to hospital after it get worsened. If anyone is affected by fever, which last more than two days they should go to hospital or  a nursing home and get their blood checked for dengue.
Recent death of an undergraduate of the University of Moratuwa was due to his failure to obtain treatment even after 5 days of getting dengue. Chasing dengue is not the solution to eradicate dengue. Environment should be kept clean without providing breeding ground for mosquitoes. From January  up to now ,  over 80,000 persons are affected by dengue. Hence, if we all get together and keep the environment clean, dengue could be eradicated completely, he concluded.
