In the recent past following resignation of Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake , there were wide spread allegation made by Government party members that the Attorney General’s Department officials have failed to take adequate steps against large scale corruptions and frauds caused by the previous regime. They expected AG’s Department officials to act in the same vigour, which they have shown in prosecuting before the CB bond Commission, especially in respect of Ravi Karunanayake.
Further, several investigation completed files in connection with the previous regime forwarded by the FCID for advise said to have been shelved .
Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe is expected to meet officials of the AG’s Department and clarify the position. This discussion will take place in a day or two .
