Decision of the UNP on  Wijeyadasa on Monday

UNP General Secretary Kabir Hashim told journalists yesterday after the UNP Central Working Committee meeting , that Minister of Justice Wijeyadasa Rajapaksa will make a statement on  the issues raised against him  on Monday(21). Further he said the government will also take some important steps especially with regard to collective responsibility of the ministers.
Government Parliamentary group is to meet on Monday.  The Government too will take a decisions on Monday, which will be relevant to all members of Cabinet and not just one member , he said.
There were heated arguments at the Working Committee where some members had criticized Mr. Rajapaksa for the statements he made on Corruption probes and on the Hambantota Port.
However, Wijedasa Rajapaksa has denied all accusations made against him in the UNP Central Working Committee meeting.
But, members led by Ashu Marasinghe stood firm  and continued  to maintain allegations  made against him.
At this stage Prime Minister Ranil Wickramesinghe proposed to appoint a three member committee comprised of Mangala Samaraweera, Malik Samarawickrama and Badulla MP Ravi Samaraweera to study and report back on the issues to the UNP Central Working Committee on Monday. Party members unanimously  accepted the proposal.
