Non Disclosing Source of Rs 300 Million to Purchase a Luxury House by Shiranthi Rajapaksa

Shiranthi Rajapaksa, wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa purchased a luxury house in Colombo 7, at  No260/12, Torrington Avenue for Rs 300 million. But she has failed to account for the Rs 300million  invested in this house.

FCID investigation revealed that a person called Lokkuvithana was connected in this house purchase. Further, Shiranthi  has told the FCID that she obtained a cash loan from his family friend Dilshan Wickramesinghe to purchase this house. During the year 2000 Mahinda Rajapaksa lived in this house. Address of this house is given to ‘’Siriliya Saviya’’, ‘’Neel Balagaya’’ and ‘’Tharunayata Heta’’ as the official address .

FCID has completed investigations on this matter and forwarded  its report to the Attorney General seeking advice. An official closer to the FCID said, that  the advice is sought from the Attorney General, as to whether a court case  could be filed under the money laundering act .
