Rs 2 Million Compensation for Life Lost in Aluthgama Violence

The cabinet at its’ meeting held yesterday  considered the cabinet paper submitted by the Minister of Prison,Prison Reforms, Rehabilitation, Resettlement and Hindu Affairs and  approved compensation payment of Rs 2 million per person , who lost their life  during the ethnic  violence in Aluthgama, Beruwala and Darga Town.

Accordingly Rs 2 million will be paid to the kith and kin of those, who lost their lives during the violence. Those who were severely wounded will be paid Rs 5 lakhs.

It is relevant to mention that 3 persons died, while 12 were severely wounded in the ethnic violence on 15^th and 16^th June 2014. Then government had failed to provide relief to those, who were affected.
