Government Considers  Amendment to 20th Amendment

20^th Amendment to the constitution was passed in the parliament on the 25^th with 120 voted for it while 44 voted against it.

 If the Speaker signs  this bill it will become  a law and LG election could be conducted in December 2017, said Election Commission.

Speaker Karu Jeyasuriya is expected to sign this bill tomorrow (31 ), Parliamentary sources revealed.

As this 20^th Amendment is continued to be defeated in certain Provincial Councils and it created controversy in parliament plus certain people have  gone to the Supreme court and filed a petition, Government now considers  to bring  further amendment  to the 20^th Amendment, Government sources disclosed.
