The cabinet at its’ meeting yesterday (29),considered the report compiled and submitted by the cabinet ad hoc committee on Uma Oya Project and decided to provide families whose houses have been destroyed by the Uma Oya Project with a housing allowance of Rs. 10,000 to 25,000. The cabinet has also approved the proposal to provide dry rations to the Uma Oya project’s victims for a further 8 months.
Payment is subject t to the condition that the sum will be accorded to those, who have been evacuated from their damaged houses for a maximum of 6 months, until they are resettled in safer lands.
The decision was announced today (30) at the weekly cabinet press briefing.
