Two Buddhist Monks Summoned by Colombo Crimes Division

Venerable Akmeemana Dayarathna Thero and Arambepola Rathnasara Thero were summoned  to appear before Colombo Crimes Division today (02) in connection with  threatening Rohingya refugees.
Six suspects including one woman have been arrested and remanded for threatening and attempting to attack Rohingya refugees at a UN safe house in Mount Lavinia. The mob broke down the gates of the multi-storied building near the capital Colombo, smashing windows and furniture as frightened refugees huddled together upstairs.
The 31 Rohingya refugees, including 16 children and seven women, were later taken to another location, but two police officers were injured  and admitted to hospital.
Several police officers were also under investigation for failing to prevent the violence.
